Yes… they demanded their own page.
Welcome to the most dramatic corner of Lakestead Farms — the official home of our hens, who insisted on having their own section because “the people need to know us.”
These ladies provide the eggs, the entertainment, and half the chaos on the farm. If you’ve ever wondered who’s really in charge here… it’s them.
Betty White
The classic. The hen who walks like she owns lakefront property (because she does). Calm… until snacks appear. Then she moves with purpose.
Betty believes in three things:
sunshine, respect, and being acknowledged when she enters a room.
And honestly? She’s earned it.
Black Betty
Black Betty is bold, curious, and always on the move. She’s the hen who sprints toward anything that looks remotely like a snack and investigates every corner of the yard like it’s part of her daily mission.
Confident, fast, and full of personality, she brings a little spark to every day at Lakestead.
Bitsy
Bitsy may be small, but she lives like she’s six feet tall. She zips around the yard with tiny-leg determination, pops out of places she was definitely not supposed to be, and insists on being noticed at all times. Cute? Yes. Quiet? Absolutely not. Bitsy proves daily that size has nothing to do with confidence.
Marty
Marty is our main rooster and takes his job extremely seriously. He crows at sunrise, before sunrise, and occasionally at times that are absolutely not sunrise. He struts with confidence, keeps watch over the girls, and makes sure everyone knows when anything—anything—is happening.
Loyal, loud, and full of personality, Marty is the soundtrack of Lakestead Farms.
Ginger
Friendly, chatty, and convinced every visitor is here specifically to see her. The first to greet you, the last to leave the snack bowl.
If there’s a conversation happening, Ginger is in it… even if she started it herself.
Roxy
Rocky is the steady one in the flock — the Barred Rock who walks around like she’s keeping everyone else in line (and honestly, she is). She’s calm, collected, and the hen that everyone accidentally follows because she just looks like she knows where she’s going.
Spoiler: sometimes she does. Sometimes she’s just walking with confidence.
Belle
Belle is soft, gentle, and easygoing — a classic Ameraucana sweetheart. She loves quiet spaces, cozy corners, and staying just close enough to make sure she doesn’t miss out. She’s calm, observant, and has that peaceful, wise vibe Ameraucanas are known for.
Roo
Roo may not be the leader, but he is definitely the voice of the operation. He crows early, often, enthusiastically, and sometimes for reasons known only to him. Energetic and excited about literally everything, Roo brings the volume while Marty brings the order.
Together, they make a perfect rooster duo.
Misty
Misty is big, bold, and absolutely convinced she runs the coop. She’s the Brahma who walks through the yard like a linebacker — gently moving the smaller hens out of her way with zero apology. She’s not mean… she’s just huge and fully aware of her size advantage.
She eats first, walks wherever she wants, and everyone else simply adjusts.
Classic Brahma confidence.
Gemma
A true Sapphire Gem, Gemma is as stunning as she is curious. She patrols the yard like it’s her personal runway, inspecting every bucket, bag, and breeze. If something new shows up at Lakestead.
Gemma is the first hen to investigate — and the last to stop talking about it.
Lacey
Lacey walks around Lakestead like she’s wearing a ball gown — because honestly, with those black-laced feathers, she kind of is. She brings the glamour to the flock and absolutely expects everyone to notice.
Lacey? She’s above the drama… unless snacks are involved.
Lolli
Lolli is our adventurous Ameraucana and the undisputed escape expert of Lakestead. If there’s a gap, a gate, a lifted corner, or a moment of distraction — she’s gone. Not far, not fast… just out, exploring like she owns the neighborhood.
Smart, curious, and always testing boundaries,
Liberty keeps us on our toes and proves daily that her name suits her perfectly.
Liberty
Liberty is our Watcher of Lakestead — the quiet guardian who sees everything.
While the rest of the flock pecks, chatters, and causes their usual chaos, Liberty perches just a little higher, head tilted, eyes sharp, taking in every movement on the hill.
Steady, intuitive, and endlessly aware, Liberty is the hen who keeps Lakestead running smoothly… simply by watching over it all.
